Celebrity Character Voice Autographs

Based on the work of Rudyard Kipling, Disney's The Jungle Book brought the flair of MGM's musicals to the animated feature. Featuring band leader and comedian Phil Harris as the voice of Baloo the Bear, the movie has charmed audiences since it's theatrical release in 1967. It was the last movie that was supervised by Walt Disney, who passed away the year before.

Who Was The Voice?

Most Disney fans have a favorite character, and one of the things that makes each character special is the voice that is usually provided by a celbrity actor or actress. I've just created a special section of our site for our featured Voice Actor Autographs where we take the autograph of the voice actor and match it with some attractive art to create unique collectibles. Phil Harris as Baloo Autograph

Few performers had such a unique personna as Phil Harris. A jazz musician by trade, he had his own band that travelled the country. In 1936, Jack Benny hired him for his radio program where Phil was portrayed as heavy-drinking lout of a musician who was usually only slightly more sober than his band members. He had that classic Southern charm and the syrupy drawl to go with it. Hadnsome, funny, and more than able to hold his own in the presence of the comedy legend Jack Benny, there was nobody like him. He stayed with the Benny program for nearly 16 years, interrupted only by World War II. He married the gorgeous movie star Alice Faye, who gave up her movie career to raise their family. Phil and Alice had their own radio show for about 6 years. Phil passed away in 1995 at the ripe old age of 91.

This piece shows the cuddly, scatter-brained bear Baloo from 1967's "The Jungle Book". The picture of Baloo measures approximately 7x7-1/2 inches. The autographed card is inscribed "'Baloo', Hi, Phil Harris" and measures approximately 3x4 inches. All covered in clear mylar and mounted in an 11x14 inch acid-free mat.
