Disney's The Jungle Book was the
last animated feature that was supervised by Walt before his passing in 1966. It
shows Walt's keen sense of story, his love of laughter, and his
dedication to excellence. It was clearly a triumph and remains a favorite of Disney fans. We
love it because we're such huge fans of singer Phil Harris, who was the voice of Baloo the bear.
Old fogies like us learned to love Phil Harris because of his appearances on the Jack Benny
radio program, starting in the 1930s and continuing through the early 1950s. And, I always
thought that Sebastian Cabot, who was appearing in a popular television series at that time
called "Checkmate", was an inspired choice as the mature and rational voice of
Bageerah the panther. But that's not to overlook the other two famous voices. First and
foremost in the hearts of Disney fans is Sterling Holloway who was the voice of Kaa the
snake. Sterling's unusual voice marked his career in films and on television, starting in
the late 1940's. His talents became most famous when he was cast as the original voice
of Winnie The Pooh. That brings us to Maggie's personal favorite: George Sanders who was
the deep, menacing voice of the evil Shere Kahn the tiger. George Sanders was a British actor
who starred in many films for Hollywood. He became enormously popular for starring as Simon
Templar, The Saint, based on the Leslie Charteris story.

Jungle Book Cels
I'm just back from the D23 Expo in Anaheim and rather than go through the torture of eBay, I've posted lots of pins on our Disney pins page. There are also other D23 Expo items available elsewhere on our site. I only have one of most of these treasures, so don't wait!
We're happy to announce that we've just made available a small number of Storyboard Magazine back issues signed by
well-known Disney animators. We've had these in our vault for over ten years, just waiting for
the right time to share them with Disney animation fans.
See them all on our Disney Collectibles page.
