The Disney Gallery over Pirates of the Caribbean was one of our favorite places in Disneyland. It was originally designed to be a large multi-room apartment for Walt and his family to replace the simple apartment over the Firehouse on Main Street. Walt's sudden death in 1966 put an end to that plan. In the next 20 years, the space was used by insurance company INA and later by Disneyland executives. In July 1987, the space was converted into a real gallery with five rooms of exhibits ranging from cels and posters to models of the attractions that now fill the parks. The central court had tables and chairs that is protected from the noise and bluster of the park where you could sit and relax. The Disney Gallery was filled with an amazing collection of cels and other unusual collectibles not found elsewhere in the park. They sold photographic reproductions of the works of some of the best and most famous Disney artists and animators. When they first released a new piece, they often had the artist make an appearance to personally autograph the artwork.
Sadly, the original Disney Gallery over Pirates of the Caribbean closed in August of 2007. We
will miss that oasis of calming, subdued light, and fantasy in Disneyland, but we are overjoyed at the news that the
Gallery has been reborn in the Bank of Main Street building. We present for sale here the following pieces are from some Disney
Gallery artist events from the 1990s.

I've been working hard lately to refresh the images on our site. The work is long overdue, but the good news is that it's given me the chance to photograph a lot of art that we've never shown online before. The new pages are:
You'll continue to see better images over the coming weeks, so if you can't get a good look now, please visit again soon!
Most Disney fans have a favorite character, and one of the things that makes each character special is the voice that is usually provided by a celbrity actor or actress. I've just created a special section of our site for our featured Voice Actor Autographs where we take the autograph of the voice actor and match it with some attractive art to create unique collectibles. In addition, each movie's page has a list of the main characters and the names of the actors who gave them their voice. Who Dat? Follow the link and find out!
I've just posted a set of framed Disneyland mini attraction posters from the Disney Gallery in Disneyland. These are from our personal collection that we no longer have wall space for following our recent move. You can buy them individually, but you'll get a real steal on the entire set. See this art from Disneyland Now! before someone breaks up the set!

One of the most popular Disney collectibles has always been replicas of the attraction posters that hang in the tunnels that run underneath the railroad tracks of Main Street Station right at the entrances onto Main Street. Disneyland originally sold full-size 36x54" silk-screened replicas in the park way back in the 1960's or 70's. Some time later, they sold full-size lithos. Then, soon after the Disney Gallery opened in New Orleans Square, they added miniature replicas that measure 9x13" that came in 14x18" mats and were suitable for framing. We are pleased to offer this selection of these mini attraction posters.
We've enjoyed these posters for many years, but there's no longer enough wall space for them. I would much prefer that they all have a new home together, so as long as we have them all, I'm offering them as a set of five at a very good price. They're professionally framed in high quality burnished metal frames. And these are the old style prints that are so good you'll swear they're lithographs. I think they're much better quality than the new print-on-demand posters. So, check out the individual descriptions below for details, but hurry before someone snatches their favorite!

Pirates of the Caribbean Triple Signed Print
Few attractions at Disneyland are so iconic as Pirates of the Caribbean. The ride was
a hit with guests as soon as it opened in 1966 in New Orleans Square. This piece shows Marc Davis' concept
art of one of the last scenes in the ride with a pirate draped over a canon. Marc was almost solely responsible
for creating the Pirates attraction, among many others he designed for Walt. The artwork here measures 11x14"
embossed with The Disney Gallery seal, and comes in a 16x20" mat.
The piece is from a limited edition of 350 pieces, signed by three Disney Legends: artist Marc Davis, "Yo-Ho!" songwriter X. Atencio, and costume
designer Alice Davis. We obtained it at a signing event in the Disneyland Gallery
in 1997 and it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from the Disney Gallery. |
Jungle Cruise Elephant Print Signed by Marc Davis
Disney Legend Marc Davis was a brilliant artist and animator, who worked on many
Disney films. Walt also relied heavily on Marc's imagination for creating Disneyland's many attractions.
Here we have a reproduction of concept art for a scene in the Jungle Cruise attraction showing an
elephant frolicking under a waterfall. The artwork measures 10x13 and comes in a 16x20" mat.
The piece is signed by Marc Davis. We obtained it at a signing event in the Disneyland Gallery
in the mid-1990's. |
Columbia Concept Art Print Signed by Artist Sam McKim
Noted Disney artist and Imagineer Sam McKim sadly passed away in 2004. His influence is seen all throughout Disneyland,
Walt Disney World, and the other parks. He and Marvin Davis created the original concept art for much of New Orleans
Square, including the Haunted Mansion, and has made many contributions to Walt Disney World and
Disneyland Paris. Here we have a reproduction of his concept painting of Columbia, the ship that
sails in the Rivers of America, with a cut-away view inside the hold. It's an 11x14" photo in a
16x20" mat that was signed by Mr. McKim at a special event in the Disney Gallery in June, 1993
when we bought it. We only knew Mr. McKim through our visits at Disney collectibles shows, but
we always felt a closeness to him because he was such an outgoing, gracious, and friendly gentleman. His art
and good humor will be sorely missed by Disney fans around the world. This signed piece features the sailing
ship Columbia, one of his major contributions to Disneyland, and it is a tribute to this artist's enormous talent and
unflagging spirit. |
