It's hard to believe that Disney characters have
appeared on television for over 50 years. Starting with a few specials on ABC
in the early 1950's that evolved into the
Disneyland television show in 1954, expanding to include the original
Mickey Mouse Club, series, the first color Disney broadcasts of
Wonderful World of Color, in the early 1960s and continuing on to the many animated
series we see today, Disney has been a fixture of American television for over 50 years.
Here are a few examples of the memories we all share captured in some wonderful
animation cels.

Disney Television Cels
I'm just back from the D23 Expo in Anaheim and rather than go through the torture of eBay, I've posted lots of pins on our Disney pins page. There are also other D23 Expo items available elsewhere on our site. I only have one of most of these treasures, so don't wait!
We're happy to announce that we've just made available a small number of Storyboard Magazine back issues signed by
well-known Disney animators. We've had these in our vault for over ten years, just waiting for
the right time to share them with Disney animation fans.
See them all on our Disney Collectibles page.
Ludwig von Drake Original Animation CelHere we have a fabulous Disney production cel made in the Studio's Ink and Paint
Department and photographed in the making of a 1960's Disney television program - most likely
"The Wonderful World of Color". This fine original production cel measures 8x10" in a
12x14" mat with a reproduction background. A collectible piece of animation art, it has a
Disneyland Art Corner seal on the back, denoting it was originally sold in the park. |
Jiminy Cricket Original Animation CelHere we have an original production cel of Pinocchio's pal Jiminy Cricket. The fine lines indicate
this piece of animation art is likely from Disney television in the late 1950's. It's a trimmed cel that comes in a
6x4½" opening in a 14x11" mat with a supplied background. |

Peter Pan TV Commercial Original Animation CelThis is a production cel from a 1960s Peter Pan Peanut Butter television commercial.
It was not officially made by Disney, although produced under license - possibly with the aid of
Disney artists. Very few of these cels from television commercials survived to be collectibles,
of course, since they were rarely kept once the commercial was produced and distributed. It
has a matching reproduction background with a 8x5" cel opening in a 12x9" mat. |
