American composer Deems Taylor (1885-1966) is best known to Disney fans as the host and narrator in Disney's "Fantasia". He helped Disney select the music in that groundbreaking film, as well. His work as a critic and radio commentator for classical music eventually outshined his work as a composer, and was the source of much of his fame. Deems Taylor autographed this First Day Cover of the 8 cent Statue of Liberty 1954 US Post Office stamp - postmarked on the day of issue, making this a unique double-collectible. |
