Did you know that Walt Disney had a private apartment above the firehouse in Disneyland? As a prize at an Annual Passholder Event in 1995, we won dinner in that apartment which has been preserved since Walt's passing in 1966. Sir Nigel Hawthorne was an amazing British actor with a twinkle in his eye. He's probaby best known by Americans for his Academy Award-nominated portrayal of King George III in "The Madness of King George", although he made several appearances on the Broadway stage. But among us fans of British television he will always be the delightfully devious Sir Humphrey Appleby in the classic sitcoms "Yes, Minister" and "Yes, Prime Minister" (which show up on Netflix occasionally). Few Disney animation fans probably ever knew he was the voice of Fflewddur Fflam in "The Black Cauldron", and Professor Archimedes Q. Porter in "Tarzan". Sadly, Mr. Hawthorne passed away in 2001 at age 72. We obtained this autographed index card directly from Mr. Hawthorne in 1999.
