Did you know that Walt Disney had a private apartment above the firehouse in Disneyland? As a prize at an Annual Passholder Event in 1995, we won dinner in that apartment which has been preserved since Walt's passing in 1966. The popular comedian with the famous stutter starred in two enormously popular sitcoms in the 1970's and 1980's. His career as an accountant in Chicago going nowhere, he turned to doing stand-up comedy in the late 1950's and his first album, "The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart", is still in the top 20 all-time best-selling comedy albums. His popularity soared in his first hit TV series "The Bob Newhart Show" and was only renewed in the 1980's series "Newhart". He's still making cameo appearances on TV shows and won his first Primetime Emmy award in 2013 for his role as Professor Proton on "The Big Bang Theory".
Disney fans also know him for his performance as Bernard the Mouse in the 1977 feature "The Rescuers" as well as the sequel "Rescuers Down Under", along with his co-star Eva Gabor who voiced the prim and elegant Miss Bianca. We obtained his signature on this index card directly from Mr. Newhart by mail in 1992.
