Walt Disney Classics CollectionThe Walt Disney Classics Collection represents a remarkable
chapter in the history of the Walt Disney Company. The collectibles market quickly got
the attention of Disney executives a few years after the first Disney Store opened in Glendale, CA in 1987. It
seemed like everything the Company made flew off the shelves. Even big ticket items like
animation art and collectible watches were big sellers. The volcanic home video market just fanned
the flames even further. So, in 1992, the Disney Company took the giant leap of bringing the
formidiable creative talents within the Animation Department to bear on a new division dedicated
to making ceramic figurines of such high quality as to compete with the likes of Aramani and
Hummel, calling it The Walt Disney Classics Collection. The first WDCC figures depicted scenes from legendary Disney animated features: Bambi,
Cinderella, and Fantasia. Rainbo Animation Art is pleased to finally share WDCC figures we've
been enjoying in our home and some we've simply held for their timeless beauty. |
