Disney may be our favorite animation studio, but there's a host of other studios who have
turned out some memorable works over the years like Warner Bros., home of Looney Toons, and MGM, home of the Tom and Jerry cartoons for more
than 50 years. Of course, animation fans are also very fond of films from independent producers who
often participate in animation festivals around the world. If you've ever been to a Spike and
Mike's "Classic Festival of Animation" or their "Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation"
which tours the country every year, or the Ottawa International Animation Festival,
then you're among friends here. We hope you enjoy the animation cels on this page, and that you'll check out the animation
art from the other studios listed below.

Cels From Other Studios
Tom from Tom and Jerry Animation CelThis great piece is from an MGM Studios theatrical short from the 1960's. The heavy eyebrows on Tom
make me think this is almost certainly the work of the legendary Chuck Jones during a time when he wasn't
working for Warner Bros. because they stopped producing cartoon shorts. It has a 7-1/2x9-1/2" cel opening
in an 11x14" mat. It comes in a simple dark wood frame. A real bargain! Please forgive the reflections
in the image. The cel is clear and in excellent condition. |
Sally Cruikshank's "Face Like A Frog" Signed Production CelThis is an original production cel from the award-winning animated short "Face Like A Frog"
from animator Sally Cruikshank, released in 1987. It's a fabulous film that features her psychadelic style and a song by
composer Danny Elfman of "Nightmare Before Christmas" fame. The cel measures
9x12" in a 12x16" mat with a matching reproduction background. It is hand-signed by Sally Cruikshank. |
Allegro Non Troppo Signed Production CelOften compared to Disney's "Fantasia", the daring spectacle "Allegro Non Troppo"
produced by Italian Bruno Bozetto is one of the best animated films of all time. Produced in 1977 and done to the music of Ravel's
"Bolero" and other classical music, it shows animals befalling the same problems encountered by humans,
but done with cartoon humor. The cel is 9x12" in a 15x17" mat, and it is hand-signed by Bruno Bozetto,
who added a little character to his signature here. |
Autobahn Original Production CelThis is a two-cel set-up from Hungarian animator John Halas' 1979 film "Autobahn" which
won awards at the 1980 Hong Kong International Film Festival and the 1980 Los Angles International Film Exposition. The
cel measures 11x13&uot; and is labeld "monster seq" - presumably by someone from the production studio, Halas and
Batchelor. Forgive the image here. The cels were loose and started to curl when I stood them on the easel to
photograph the piece. The cel is in still very good condition. |
Shinbone Alley Archy Original Production Cel"Shinbone Alley" was a 1971 animated version of a popular series of newspaper columns
called "Archy and Mehitabel" written by Don Marquis beginning in 1916. The stories of Archy the cockroach
and Mehitabel the alley cat have remained popular through the years. Despite the writing talents of people like Mel Brooks, and the voices of fine actors
Carol Channing and Eddie Bracken, the film is cherished largely by those who love the stories. This cel features
a typical image of Archy. It measures 7x9" with a reproduction background, in an 11x14" mat. |
Chanticleer from Rock-A-Doodle Cel"Rock-A-Doodle" was a Don Bluth film from 1992 that followed in the
footsteps of Disney's successes like "The Little Mermaid" This is a large promotional cel
that features the main character, Chanticleer the rooster. The cel measures a whopping 13x13" in a 16x17"
mat. A great choice for any Don Bluth fan. |
Stuart Little Production CelThis is an original production cel from the 1970's feature "Stuart Little"
produced by Bosustow Studios, and was based on the popular children's book. It shows Stuart and a little girl. The cel measures 8x12" with a
matching reproduction background in a 12x16" mat and has an ASIFA Hollywood seal and Certificate of Authenticity. |
Stuart Little Production CelThis is an original production cel from the 1970's feature "Stuart Little"
produced by Bosustow Studios, and was based on the popular children's book. It shows Stuart and his "father". The cel measures 8x12" with a
matching reproduction background in a 12x16" mat and has an ASIFA Hollywood seal and Certificate of Authenticity. |
Nate The Great Production CelThis is an original production cel from the 1978 feature "Nate The Great"
produced by Bosustow Studios, and was based on the popular children's books. It shows Nate and his dog, Sludge. The cel measures 8x12" with a
matching reproduction background in a 12x16" mat and has an ASIFA Hollywood seal and Certificate of Authenticity. |
Nate The Great and Sludge Production CelThis is an original production cel from the 1978 feature "Nate The Great"
produced by Bosustow Studios, and was based on the popular children's books. It shows a close-up of Nate and his dog, Sludge. The cel measures 8x12" with a
matching reproduction background in a 12x16" mat and has an ASIFA Hollywood seal and Certificate of Authenticity. |
Cinderella Production CelThis is an original production cel from a non-Disney production of "Cinderella".
It looks like it was made for television circa 1980, but I couldn't find any details. The cel measures
8x12" in a 12x16" mat. It would look wonderful on the wall of your princess' bedroom. |
Unknown Production CelThis is an original production cel from an unknown piece of animation. I would
appreciate any information you might have. It has a 5-½x8-½" cel opening in a 9x12" mat. |
