William Costello was a drummer when he was cast as the original voice of Popeye the Sailor in the Fleischer Bros. cartoons in the early 1930's that was based on the King Features comic strip character. Costello only voiced the character for a couple of years, but he set the stage for those who followed him. He passed away in 1971. This piece features a very rare signed 3-½x5" publicity photo of Mr. Costello inscribed "Best Wishes, Popeye, Billy Costello" and is matted with a picture of the character.
