Roger Miller rose to fame in the 1960's as a country music star with hits like "King of the Road" and "England Swings" that often told stories with a humorous bent. It was undoubtedly this combination that led Disney to cast him in this story from Jolly Old England, despite the clash of cultures involved. He gave troubador and narrator Alan-A-Dale the right mix of storyteller and singer. He passed away in 1992 at the young age of 56, but not before he'd won a Tony Award for his music for the Broadway show "Big River". He was also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. This big, bold, piece includes an autographed index card with a 3x3" picture of Mr. Williams and a 8x10" picture of his alter-ego Alan-A-Dale, all in an 14x18" mat. |
