John Lasseter and Brad Bird met around 1980 when they were both at Cal Arts. Both spent a short time at Disney before going on to bigger and better things, but some 20 years later when Pixar needed a director for "The Incredibles", Lasseter traveled from San Francisco to Los Angeles to persuade his old friend to come to Pixar to direct the film. And what a spectacular choice that turned out to be. "The Incredibles" was Pixar's biggest hit when it was released in 2004. Brad Bird's best known previous work was "The Iron Giant", an animated feature he made for Warner Bros. in 1999. But not many people know that Brad performed the voice for the quirky character Edna Mode - the mad scientist and costume designer for the super heroes. His spoof of Hollywood legend Edith Head was simply hilarious and was crucial in giving the film its appeal to audiences of all ages. This autographed 8x10 inch publicity photo was obtained in person at the San Diego Comic Con in July of 2004 where Mr. Bird made an appearance. It's a wonderful Disney collectible that any Incredibles fan would love. Just remember, dahling... No Capes! |
