The blockbuster hit animated feature from 1992, Aladdin, gave Robin Williams a special opportunity to showcase his imrpovisational skills to a new audience who knew him only as Mork from TV's "Mork and Mindy" and those who had never seen his stand-up comedy. The humor, music, and images wove themselves into a spellbinding experience for millions of people. Aladdin was also a triumph for the Academy Award-winning team of composer Alan Menkin and lyricist Howard Ashman whose talents were showcased in the collection of rollicking tunes that helped this movie cross over from Disney's traditional family and children audience to teens and adults as well. It was Disney's biggest box office hit until it was eclipsed a year later by "Beauty and the Beast".
