"Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" is often credited with reviving Disney's Feature Animation division which
had been in a huge downturn following several lackluster movies like "The Black Cauldron." A large portion of that
is due to the wonderful performances of the actors who did the voices of the characters. Kathleen Turner's Jessica Rabbit complaint of "I'm not bad,
I'm just drawn that way." became an instant classic. Charles Fleischer's portrayal of Roger was silly and scatterbrained,
but charming and sweet as well. It was a bold combination of animation and live action that had never been done on this scale. Previous
movies that had actors interacting with animated characters had been limited to short sequences like the "Jolly Holiday" sequence
in "Mary Poppins" and Gene Kelly's dance with Jerry the mouse in "Anchors Aweigh". The live cast featured veteran
British actor Bob Hoskins as detective Eddie Valliant, who had to mime much of his performance by talking to an invisible rabbit.
"Roger Rabbit" heralded Disney's series of movies that appealed to both adults and children, and
was so popular in its own right that the Studio produced three Roger Rabbit short subjects "Tummy Trouble",
"Rollercoaster Rabbit", and "Trail Mix-Up".

Kathleen Turner as Jessica Rabbit AutographThe sultry voice of the sexy movie star Kathleen Turner made Jessica Rabbit a popular pin-up girl
for many fans of animation. No wonder Roger was insane with jealousy. Kathleen Turner rose to fame in the modern noir thriller
"Body Heat" with co-star William Hurt, and as the naive romance novelist Joan Wilder in "Romancing The Stone"
with Michael Douglas. She also starred in a greatly under-appreciated movie, "'V.I.' Warshawski", produced by Disney's
Touchstone studio, where she played tough-as-nails P.I. Vicki Warshawski, and in the better received films "Prizzi's Honor"
with Jack Nicholson and "Peggy Sue Got Married" with Nicholas Cage. She may be best known to younger Americans as Charles
Bing, Chandler Bing's drag queen father in the TV sitcom "Friends". She is also an accomplished stage actress, who received
rave reviews for her work on Broadway and the London stage. This collectible autograph artwork is in a 14x11" mat, the artwork
measures 8x9" and the signature card is 1x4". |
Charles Fleischer as Roger Rabbit AutographCharles Fleischer was best known as a stand-up comic when he got the role of Roger Rabbit. That stacatto stutter
"P-p-puh-puh-leeeease!" is instantly recognizable as Roger. The photograph shows him in the costume he wore on the set of
the movie to help him get into the role, since he had to be off-screen while providing the dialog for Roger during production. Charles
is working these days as a part-owner of a multi-media company in Southern California and as a writer for TV and movies. This
collectible features an autographed index card with a 8x7" inch picture of Roger Rabbit in a 12x16" mat. |
